Abbey Lane Open Mic guest for November 29th

We are chuffed to announce our special guest for November’s Open Mic is the world famous Sean Donnelly.

Sean has been a regular on the folk circuit for many years, made countless radio broadcasts and appeared on televised folk music programmes at home and abroad.

He has also played at all the major folk festivals on these islands and as far afield as Germany and the USA.

Seán was given the prestigious ‘keeper of the tradition’ award at the Tommy Makem International Festival of Folksong in 2010.

His music was inducted into the Irish National Traditional Archive in Dublin in 2012.

He is probably best known for his version of ‘The Homes of Donegal’ which was once the most requested song on Irish radio.

Played by Gerry Anderson on his BBC Foyle show it was picked up by record giants Emi and sold world-wide.

Sean's latest album ‘And Our Time Together’ has been dedicated to the memory of his late friend and broadcaster Gerry Anderson.
